1st Day in North Dakota

We had a long but uneventful ride on the train yesterday. We were very excited to see diesel engines with snow plows on the front!

Grandma and Grandpa have lots of snow in their yard to play it. It's right about zero degrees today, so the snow is powdery and crunchy.

Peter let Grandpa "wiggle" his tooth out for him, since no one was allowed to pull it out. Peter wiggled it for about an hour after lunch, but it only took Grandpa one "wiggle" to get it out!

Chopping Down Trees

We spent Saturday cutting down an apple tree...

The branch on the left side of this picture was hollow and had a rat nest in it. When Mat cut the branch, he actually sawed one of the rats in half, and cut the tail off the other one. I guess you never know what you'll find in an old tree!

The boys had fun rolling their new monster trucks down the driveway, over and over and over again.

"That looks like something good to chew on!"

Peter tried his hand at chopping wood - with the splitting maul. That didn't last very long!

All done, with the third load. That was a big tree and a hard day's work!

Mischief Makers

If I had known that he would be happy with a beater for an hour, I would have employed it a long time ago!

Is Mathew supposed to be getting into mischief this young? He can't even crawl!

Who chopped down the cherry tree???

We did! The boys and I went over to a friend's house yesterday to prune her cherry tree - what a job! Fortunately, it's a good climbing tree, so Peter and I acted like monkeys (not a big stretch there) while the two little ones took their naps. We'll look forward to some yummy cherries this summer!

Armed and Dangerous!

Sorry, I've been a bit negligent in posting pictures this week. How many weapons do you need to read a bedtime story?

Uncle Pawl Comes to Visit

No visit with Pawl would be complete without a couple games of Settlers of Catan...

... And some jumping on the bed...

... And a few self-portraits!
