Family Resemblance

These are all five of my boys, taken within a week or so of birth. Can you guess who's who?

4 Days

We've had a very full four days! The highlight for me has been the ongoing questions, since the kids notice things that I just take for granted. We've had quite the biology lesson as we've talked through reflexes, digestion, the respiratory system, senses, muscles, and milk. I'm not sure I like being compared to a sea cow nursing her calf, but Pete's made lots of connections about mammals! Here are some of our other adventures this week...

Peter and Patrick, left to their own imaginations, raided Mat's closet to play dress up.

Aargh, Matey! Peter thought his brother would like to wear a bandanna too - which was fine because his noggin's so big that the newborn caps don't fit.

The boys made Jacob a birthday cake (four candles for four brothers). If you look closely, you'll see what happens to icing when you turn your back on Mathew for a few minutes.

And I had lots of helpers giving Jacob his first bath this morning.

More baby pictures

Patrick and I snuggled with Jacob last night while Mat succumbed to four rounds of "One more chapter please!"

Peter and Mathew played with their own "babies" this afternoon. Good thing "Baby George" doesn't mind being swung, choked, and dropped on the floor!

Welcome Baby Jacob!

Jacob Arthur was born this morning at 10:45, a healthy 9 lbs 9 oz and 22 inches. His brothers are very excited!

Ruston Waterfront

We ventured out to Ruston Way to see the wildlife yesterday morning, and more importantly, to throw rocks in the water! We weren't disappointed - we saw sea stars, anemones, crabs, snails, barnacles, birds, and even a seal stealing a fish from a fisherman's line.

Grandma and Grandpa Come to Visit

We were glad to see Grandma and Grandpa come to visit - lots of stories and silliness!

School is much more fun with Grandpa!

And he makes a good landing pad too!

Then Uncle Pawl, our favorite jungle gym, came up yesterday afternoon.

Lazy Days

That jar Mathew is holding contains dirt, water, tomatoes, slugs, and spiders. He ate a couple of the tomatoes later. There aren't too many more days of lying in the sun left this year!

Obviously, this cute snuggling quickly turned into pure silliness.
